First Touch was nominated by Sophie Bailey and Isabella Hudson, Year 6, who both have personal connection to the charity. First Touch was set up in 1998 to support the babies, families and staff on the Neonatal Unit at St George’s Hospital, Tooting. The money raised goes directly to fund equipment and projects to improve the outcomes for the babies and their families.
The Invictus Games Foundation was nominated by Georgina Carrington, Year 6. She decided to nominate this charity because of her love of sport and her empathy for others: ‘This charity is important to me as I have a passion for sport and if for any reason I couldn’t do it anymore I would be heart broken.’ The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event, created by His Royal Highness Prince Harry, in which wounded, injured or service men and women take part in sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volley ball and indoor rowing. The Games help injured war veterans to rebuild their confidence and prove anyone can do anything.
