Our first game was against Francis Holland. The girls played beautiful Netball, scoring goal after goal and winning the game 8-0. We then played Falkner House. The girls dodged into space, passing the ball up the court successfully to Imogen and Emma. The final score was 8-1 to The Study.
We went on to beat Fulham Prep 6-2 and drew against Thomas’s Clapham. We were then up against The Roche. We knew this would be a tough game; The Roche played quick netball making it extremely hard for our girls to intercept and we lost the match 4-0. Our final group game match was against Thomas’s Battersea. The girls played excellent Netball winning 7-2.
We made it to the Semi-Final where we met Thomas’s Fulham who had not yet lost a game. We fought extremely hard throughout the match making vital interceptions all over the court. We took advantage of any shooting opportunity and a special mention goes to Farah and Sophie Chase who made it extremely difficult for their opposition to score. The Study won 5-2. We were through to the Final!
The girls had played some of their best Netball yet to get them to the Final and we found ourselves up against The Roche who we had lost to earlier on that day. We had nothing to lose, both teams looked nervous and made a few silly mistakes but the second half was full of strong passes, great shooting and fantastic defending by all players. The Study won 3-1 which meant they had won The Year 5 Thomas’s Netball Tournament! Well done girls!
A special mention goes to Farah Wager for winning player of the Tournament.
