Year 5 girls visited The London Metropolitan Archives at separate times as part of their humanities studies on maps. They were very lucky to get a tour of the extraordinary archives including the strong room which houses some of the history’s most precious papers and records. The girls agreed that this had the wow factor! They had the opportunity to investigate their local area’s history using various maps from the Archives. They learned how London has changed over the years through beautifully decorated maps from the Tudor period, Victorian maps and panoramas, and Ordnance Survey maps. The archivists commented on the enthusiasm and interest that The Study girls showed in their learning, and in their impeccable behaviour.
