Each term in Wilberforce House a topic is chosen to be brought to life through our creative curriculum.
Year 3 have been learning all about ancient Egypt. They explored everything from Egyptian houses to clothing, the Nile and Cleopatra. Mrs Hall and Miss Spencer, our year 3 teachers, have been really impressed with how much the girls have engaged with the topic.
The girls were set the task of constructing their own model Egyptian house, giving them an opportunity to develop their design skills and get really creative. The results were impressive! From simple village dwellings to expansive villas, the various model houses were complete with relaxing terraces, shrines, grain stores and even livestock.
Their learning culminated in a fun Egyptian Day this week. Girls and teachers came to school in fantastic Egyptian costumes and spent the day doing all sorts of fun activities. They decorated pencil box coffins, had a funny embalming and mummy making contest and completed the day with a grand pharaohs' banquet!
The girls got to try out the seating in our new performing arts space for the first time too!
