Year 2 girls have been enjoying James Mayhew's books 'Katie in London” and “Katie’s Picture Show”. So, just like the character Katie, they went on an outing to the National Gallery.
Their adventure started in Trafalgar Square, where Katie first met the Lion. Then they went on a tour through the National Gallery looking at several of the famous paintings. A highlight for the girls was the seeing the painting ‘The Surprise’ by Henri Rousseau. They learnt that Rousseau had never been to a jungle or even seen a wild tiger, but that he used his imagination to create this wild exotic scene.
It was a captivating and rewarding experience for the girls, who were inspired by the paintings. What a wonderful adventure they had!
