Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle in East Sussex. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, in order to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years’ War. As part of Year 1’s current creative topic “Turrets and Tiaras”, the girls enjoyed a fantastic trip to this beautiful medieval castle and experienced what it was like to be royalty during this era of history. They dressed up in medieval clothing including trying on suits of armour, had fun role playing as princesses and gallant knights, and heard all about the food and herbal remedies of the time. It was a wonderful and educational trip that certainly brought the topic to life.
