Tuesday 8 March was a day to celebrate at The Study for two important reasons: it marked a year since we moved into our fantastic redeveloped building at Wilberforce House, and it was International Women's Day.
To help us celebrate the day we invited Dame Darcey Bussell DBE to school for a special DDMIX (Diverse Dance Mix) wellbeing dance event with the girls in our new performing arts space. Darcey is not only Former Principle of the Royal Ballet and Strictly judge but also a Wimbledon resident and good friend of The Study.
DDMIX is a charity created by Darcey, that brings wellbeing dance programmes to primary schools. Darcey believes that dance fitness can stimulate a child’s interest in sport, in the arts and give them the confidence to explore their own creativity in other fields. These are beliefs that chime with our own values at The Study.
Girls from across the school were chosen from a ballot to take part in the event and enjoyed two high energy sessions led by Darcey that were filled with fun, movement, music and lots of laughter.
Darcey provided some workouts plans for our PE team to inspire PE lessons all week too!
