Enrichment Week is in full swing at both houses, with a Book Week at Wilberforce House and a focus on Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at Spencer House.
The Spencer House girls were in for a rare treat when they went up to the beautiful Globe Theatre. They were taken around the wonderful building and into the main theatre where they were told by the guides all about the history of the site. They were taken back in time to experience how life would have been for theatregoers in the time when Shakespeare was alive. They were then split into groups to experience acting workshops with professional actors, looking at scenes from “The Tempest”, which was a great experience for the girls, who learnt so much and had lots of fun too. After lunch the girls had a run around in the gardens at The Tate Modern, and enjoyed the crisp fresh air and sunshine. The day culminated in a walking tour with historic guides, who told the girls all about the area, the site where the old Globe Theatre stood, and brought the history of this wonderful theatre to life. They then walked across the Millennium Bridge towards St Paul’s Cathedral to get the coaches that would return them to school. All the girls were fantastic ambassadors for The Study, and we would also like to extend our thanks all the parent helpers who came along on the trip.
