We are very excited to have introduced iPads at both Wilberforce and Spencer Houses, and we look forward to incorporating their use across the curriculum, as an addition to the PC’s and laptops that the girls already use frequently. At Wilberforce House, iPads will be used, amongst other things, to build pupils’ mental maths ability. They can play number games which rehearse the speed at which they complete their sums and then automatically increase the level of difficulty so that each pupil is challenged at their individual level. Across the school and for all age groups, there are a wealth of apps on the iPads which can be used for many purposes including making posters, practising letter formations, reading, phonics, programming, researching topics, filming to make mini-documentaries or stories, creating characters, animation, enhancing story-telling skills, developing thinking skills and enhancing creativity. These are all advantages we look forward to the girls experiencing with their iPads. Year 6 girls have already used them to film the recent Victorian Day workshop!
