Year 6 went to Guildford High School to take part in the Surrey U11 Netball Tournament. This is always a highly competitive competition with a total of 27 schools involved and only the top two teams from each group go through to the next stage.
The girls started the day extremely well, playing a focussed, calm game of netball and winning 11-0. The girls continued to play excellent netball, with a tough fourth match against Hoebridge. The girls were determined to dig deep and play their best, and impressed with the whole team defending well and fighting for every ball. The final score was 5-5. The Study girls won the rest of their games which meant they had won their group and were through to the quarter-finals against St Georges. The girls played beautiful netball and won 7-1! The opposition teachers even commented on how well our girls had played.
In the semi-finals the team was up against Halstead, where the girls demonstrated excellent attacking and defending skills. The final score was 10-2 to The Study – getting through to the final!
The final game was against Bishopsgate, with great interceptions from both teams and fantastic shooting under immense pressure. The final score score was 6-7. The girls were disappointed they did not win but we could not be more proud of them. Each and every single one of the girls played their best netball and thoroughly deserved their 2nd place in a Surrey Competition. Very well done girls!
