The Year 6A team travelled to Hurstpierpoint to take part in the IAPS Regional Netball Tournament. 29 schools attended with only the top 4 qualifying for Nationals. It was pouring with rain all day, the girls were soaked and there were puddles on the court so the girls knew this was going to be a tough tournament and they were determined to qualify.
The scores in our group matches were as follows;
The Study Vs Cumnor House- 12-0
The Study VS Brambletye- 10-2
The Study vs Holy Cross 5-4 a very close game!
The Study VS Skippers Hill- 11-0
The Study vs Oakwood- 10-0
The Study vs Reigate St Mary’s- 12-0
We won our group were through to the Quarter Finals against host Hurstpierpoint College. It was a great game and The Study won 6-2!
The next game was the Semi-Finals and we were up against Hoebridge. Hoebridge started really well and by half time we were 1-5 down. However in the second half the Study girls came out fighting and fought for every single ball making it 6-6 with about 30 seconds to go. Then it was our centre pass…..we scored and we were through to the IAPS Final!
In the Final we were up against Copthorne School, both teams started well but The Study kept possession and made excellent interceptions when needed. The final score 6-4 to The Study.
We had just won the IAPS Regional Final! Such an Achievement and we are so proud of the girls. We are now looking forward to attending the Nationals at Epsom College on the 21st March!
