On Monday the Year 6A team competed in the ISA Regional Netball Tournament with their sights set on qualifying for a place in the ISA Nationals.
Our first game was played outside in cold, wet and extremely windy conditions making it difficult for our shooters so score, however The Study girls demonstrated real determination and secured a 2-0 win against Sherborne School. Luckily the rest of the tournament was played inside, and we next played against Alton Convent. The final score was 4-2 to The Study. We continued to play some excellent netball, winning 11-0 against St Theresa’s and 6-0 against Heathfield. We knew that we had to win our final group match to qualify for the semi-finals, we were up against Caversham Prep, and the girls demonstrated excellent attacking and defending skills resulting in a very convincing win of 12-0.
We were now through to the semi-finals we were up against Falkner House, we knew this would be a tough match but The Study Girls pulled together, working hard to intercept the ball and get the ball down safely to our shooters. We were winning 4-0 in the first half but the second half proved more challenging. However, our defenders made it extremely hard for the opposition to get in the circle but Falkner House went on to score 3 goals. The final score. The Study 5, Falkner House 3.
We were through to the Final: The Study vs Sherborne School
The girls played extremely well, getting the ball smoothly down to the shooters who were on fire scoring goal after goal. The girls had worked so hard all day they were determined to win this game. The final score finished The Study 8, Sherborne School 2. The Study girls are ISA Regional Winners and are through to the ISA Nationals on 17 March!
An amazing day with excellent netball played. Well done girls!
