We are very proud of our girls in Years 5 & 6. They all took part in the Annual National Primary Maths Challenge in November (a tricky Maths quiz, with some really challenging problem solving questions to get their brains firing!). Three of our Year 6 girls did so well in the challenge that they got through to the Bonus Round, which took place in February.
The bonus round consisted of 25 even harder, puzzling and challenging questions and our girls did so well. Rebecca D received a Bronze, and Abigail M and Alice C received a Silver. Their scores were some of the highest in the country, with Abigail only one mark away from being in the top 5% nationally! Congratulations girls!
St Johns Maths Quiz
On Monday 11th, eight of our Spencer House girls went to St John’s in Leatherhead for a challenging Maths Quiz competition. Two teams from Spencer House took part with four girls from Year 5 and four girls from Year 6. The afternoon consisted of three very tricky rounds, ranging from arithmetic, a tricky and fast paced speed round, and finally logic problems. The girls did so well and worked brilliantly in their teams. Unfortunately we did not come within the top 4 teams, but the girls participated with such enthusiasm and collaboration that we are very proud of them. As a reward for their hard work, all of the participants were treated to a delicious ‘Match Tea’ in St John’s dining hall. The doughnuts were a particular hit!
