The Study, is renowned for its highly creative ethos and achievement in the arts, and this has been illustrated yet again in another astounding arts win for The Study. Jessica Brinkworth (Year 3) created a design for The Mayor of London’s Fourth Plinth Schools’ Award 2015 which has won for the Borough of Merton, the fourth Borough win for The Study in as many years. Jessica’s conceptual installation piece, entitled “Growing London”, wowed the panel of judges including renowned artist Mark Wallinger, who is one of the UK’s leading contemporary artists. He was awarded the 2007 Turner Prize, having previously been nominated in 1995. Wallinger represented Great Britain at the 2001 Venice Biennale. The judges responded to Jessica’s concept of the leaf representing an expanding London and the organic way in which we are all connected as one.
Very well done to Jessica, who went to City Hall last week in order to receive her prize. She has done herself and the school proud and we are looking forward to seeing her artistic skills flourish in the future.
