Year 5 went on an Art and History trip to the Wallace Collection which has recently undergone a two year renovation, and is looking splendid.
The girls looked around the historic rooms which exhibit the museum’s world-famous range of fine and decorative arts from the 15th to the 19th centuries. The various activities included them being shown some artefacts and paintings and told about the history of the collection; looking at some portraits and having the chance to pose like the subjects – Martha and Elsa had a go and had to be very still! They then selected a portrait to sketch.
Finally they took part in a Tudor workshop involving actors dressed as a female pickpocket and as Lord Dudley. It was a great mixture of observation, questioning and activities and the girls had a wonderful time.
