The rest of us may well be staying put in the UK for the summer, but not Year 1. Last Thursday, they flew to Kenya and experienced a magical day filled with crafts, animals and cupcakes. A fantastic way to round off their creative learning about Africa for this half term.
Flying high
The girls created their very own airport and flight experience as they journeyed to Kenya. It was complete with a waiting lounge, passports, boarding cards and a professional cabin crew, who delivered a diligent safety briefing and in-flight food.
Animal encounters
The lunch hall turned into African habitats and the girls met real life animals, including a meerkat family, a snake, a giant tortoise and an owl. Take a look at the amazing slow motion video of the owl swooping over their heads! They were able to interact with the animals and learnt lots of fun facts about them too.
African crafts
Their afternoon was filled with making all sorts of African crafts, including masks and bracelets made with a variety pulses and beans.
Delicious cupcakes
To end the day on a sweet note, they baked some delicious African Lime cupcakes, complete with a homemade African monkey topper.
