The Spencer House choir girls outdid themselves as they sang alongside the beautiful voices of the Bishop Gilpin choir at The Wimbledon Guild Carol Service at St Mark’s Church this week. The girls sang a wide range of festive songs, from classic favourites like Rutter’s ”The Angel’s Carol” to traditional African and Polish songs. It was a beautiful evening of choir music and readings, and the money raised will go towards supporting the fantastic work of the Wimbledon Guild.
Wendy Pridmore, Chief Executive of Wimbledon Guild wrote this to Mrs Brown, Director of Music at The Study:
“Thank you so much for all of your hard work to produce the Carol Service last night. We raised £3,765 to contribute to our services, which is absolutely fantastic. The children were delightful and their enthusiastic performances were wonderful. It was great to see them join in with the Parkinson’s dance too.The support of the local community in our work is so important and we are incredibly grateful for everything that you have done for us. Thank you once again – and a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!”
The Year 2 and 3 choir girls also had the opportunity to support the Wimbledon Guild when they went along to sing beautifully to the members of the Remember When Group. It was lovely when everyone sang together at the end, and got into the festive spirit!
