The Study community came together on Friday for a wonderful and poignant assembly at Wilberforce House which honoured the momentous 100th year anniversary of the end of the First World War. The assembly started with the choir’s sweet singing of the opening hymn, which led to Maggie in Year 3 reading her beautiful poem, “When War is Over”. Mrs Pepper then did a reading from Michael Morpurgo’s “Poppy Field”, after which Miss Gay read the poem “In Flanders Field”. After further singing, Abigail in Year 6 read “They Shall Not Grow Old”, which was followed by the haunting “Last Post” on Trumpet. The one minute silence was followed by further music with the hymn “Jerusalem” as the finale, sung by all. A procession through the beautiful Poppy Arch brought this memorable occasion to a close.
