Geoff Hunt, renowned marine artist, has kindly come into Spencer House to share with the girls his expertise and passion for marine art. Year 5 girls gained a valuable insight and introduction to the Mary Rose from the information surrounding Geoff’s painting of the ship and will soon be learning more from the visiting Mary Rose group. Year 6 have been learning a number of painting techniques and have created their own seascapes, inspired by Mr Hunt’s work and insights.
Geoff Hunt is a past President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and is one of Britain’s leading marine artists. He has made a lifetime study of historic square sail, particularly in the period of Nelson. He is best known as the book cover artist for Patrick O’Brian’s novels. His work is represented in museum collections in the UK and the USA, and in private collections worldwide. As well as painting, Geoff has written and compiled six books on marine and marine art subjects. We are very fortunate to have had him visit The Study to inspire and teach our girls!
