Our formidable athletes did us proud once again at the Surrey Cross Country Championships at Priory Park, Reigate, on Saturday. This was the first time The Study competed in this prestigious event which saw hundreds of runners and many more excited spectators. Harsh weather conditions, muddy, uneven ground and a hilly 2 km course gave everyone taking part extra challenges on the day, but our girls rose to the occasion. Year 5’s race included 187 girls from 22 schools across Surrey. Under this stiff competition, special mention must go to Sophie W who ran amazingly well and came 8th, receiving a special Surrey certificate; Albane F came 22nd and the rest of the girls ran fantastically well to ensure the final placement of the team was in 9th place. The Year 6 race included 134 girls from 15 Surrey schools. Special mention must go to Jasmin K, Lauren M and Indigo P who all came in the top 20 and in recognition for their spectacular performance, were given letters of invitation to join the Surrey Elite cross country training camp, a real honour! The other Year 6 girls ran exceptionally well, gaining points for the team and ensuring that they achieved Silver overall. A fantastic result girls, well done!
