In the heart of Wimbledon

Our two sites, near the leafy Wimbledon Common in South West London, offer a beautiful location for girls to learn. It’s hard to believe we are just a 20-minute train journey from central London.

There’s no doubt that our green surroundings have a hugely positive impact on our girls’ learning experience and, more importantly, on their mental health. We make the most of our location with a varied offering of outdoor activities available to all Study girls.

Of course, the other famous residents of the Common are part of school life too! Our resident Womble in the playground of Wilberforce House helps to remind our girls to be mindful of the planet and to look after our idyllic spot on the Common.

Wilberforce House

Wilberforce House is home to Reception and Years 1, 2 and 3. It occupies a magical spot on Wimbledon Common’s west side, nestled in between Cannizaro Park and the Common.

Our new building at Wilberforce House, which opened in 2021, includes six bright and airy classrooms, a library, a visitors’ area and state of the art performing arts space.

The outdoor play areas at Wilberforce House include an Early Years outdoor classroom, an adventure playground and the ever-popular mud kitchen!

Spencer House exterior

Spencer House

Just 10 minutes’ walk from Wilberforce House, in the heart of Wimbledon Village, Spencer House is home to our Year 4, 5 and 6 girls. This stunning building was purpose built back in 1905, when The Study’s original head, Miss Sidford, needed room for her growing girls’ school.

Specialist teaching classrooms include a science laboratory, an art studio and music and drama spaces. Outdoor play areas at Spencer House include an adventure playground and a cedar pavilion for outdoor learning activities.

“The new Wilberforce House building has made a huge difference to our school community. It is wonderful to see girls nestled into the reading nook of the new library overlooking the Common or letting their creativity flow in the fantastic performing arts space.”

Philip Walker, Bursar

“The school is spread across two sites, both of them exquisite.”

The Good Schools Guide

“The Study has the family feel of a village school with the results and facilities of a leading London Prep. It’s the very best of both worlds.”

Helen Lowe, Head

Beverley Meads Sports Ground

The Study’s sports ground at Beverley Meads is in the south-west corner of Wimbledon Common, about two miles from our main school site.

  • Girls go to Beverley Meads for sport once a week from Year 1; from Year 4 weekly games afternoons are held at the sports ground
  • We have two netball courts as well as the use of a large area of green space for netball, cricket and football training
  • After school sports clubs also takes place at Beverley Meads
  • Parents are welcome to spectate at the matches and tournaments hosted here.

Natural

Our leafy surroundings have a hugely positive impact on our girls’ learning experience and mental health.

Sustainable

The new Wilberforce House was designed using low energy architecture and we’re mindful of the planet in all areas of school life.

A community feel

Our position in Wimbledon Village gives our school a family feel, with more than half of our pupils living close by.

Our school minibuses

We have two school minibuses, Mini and Mags, which are used to shuttle the girls between the sites, as well as to the sports grounds at Beverley Meads.

We do not have a private school bus to collect girls from residential areas but more than half of our pupils live locally and we encourage, where possible, our pupils to travel to school on foot or by scooter or bike, the greenest form of travel, fitting in with our ambition to make school life as sustainable as possible.
